Media Treatment Pitch

The Treatment

My group and I have decided to create a music video to Kweezy-Che Che Kule Our music video will feature actors and actresses especially chosen from the performing arts department at Leyton Sixth Form College. Also, because we have decided to make our music video performance based we have asked some dancers form dance schools to dance in the video and help choreograph the specific dance moves one female character who is the artist who will also be lip-synching and acting also and another character who will play the protagonist in our video. In our video, we plan to explore the themes of African culture and Afro beats dancing as this is what links to our song choice (lyrics).
The song is nearly 3 minutes long in length, which fits perfectly within the time limit set because it will allow us to a variety of shots and lip sync. Our target audience will be 16 years old to fit in with the 'Young Adult Category'.

We'll be using social networking sites to broadcast our video, like for example Youtube, Facebook and twitter to allow our audience to be aware of which website to visit in order to watch the video.

Form the treatment we have decided to use one of the ideas that the audience has suggested which is to use about three young children in our video because the song was originally a Ghanaian playground song.

Lyrics

The lyrics for our chosen song is very hard to source but one of the group members have volunteered themselves to write out the lyrics because the song is partly in her native tongue. But for now I have sourced the lyrics for the chorus and i have got it translated to correspond with the meaning and dance moves of the song.

Ghanaian Lyrics

Videos of the infinite mix

I have taken some primary videos of the exhibitions

This kendrick lamar video was the most reliable to my own video because of the genre and style of the video. I enjoyed the split scene of the videos so it can show what the different parts of the video in different angles, also, It shows different perceptions. Moreover, they used a technique where they had a underwater image and they had the music almost sound like its playing under water.

Media trip to "The Infinite Mix"

This is the booklet i received when I entered the exhibition:

These are the details of what each video in the exhibition is about, and details what
each video is about and background information

Yesterday, I went to the Hayward Gallery for the infinite mix, the purpose of this trip is to gain inspiration for our own music videos. However, most of the videos at the exhibition were conceptual so the videos where very artistic and hard to understand. But, yet they were specific to that particular genre of the music in the video. On the other hand, the videos that we will create will have to have a fast cutting rate and shots soloy based on lip syncing, more specific to my own it will be heavily performances based rather than conceptual.

Preliminary- task 2

In lesson we learnt the basics how to set up a DSLR camera, we was given this hand out as a set of instructions to set up the camera. For example changing the lighting when it comes to different locations. In order to set the camera correctly, the following steps had to be made.

initial video x wizkid the mater

This is my groups & I preliminary task. We first found that an outdoor setting would be more suitable and also make the video more interesting and also there would be better light quality throughout the video. We got into groups that were testing to see whether we could actually work together before finalising our groups, we choose a song that was very specfic to the afrobeats genre and created a basic music video for it. The purpose of the task was to practise lip-synching, test out different framings and getting a feel for what directing/producing/editing our own music videos are going to be like.

To edit the video we used Premier Pro which allowed us to add a lot of effect such as cutting the video, adding transitions. This really helped us to make the video more interesting and have conventions of music video. The camera we used was Canon DSLR -we used autofocus to ensure the video had the best quality, as well using a tripod to keep the camera steady and stable, all these details aided the video to be as professional as possible. However, I think so our quality was effected because some of the video the is a high exposure that makes the video not as clear or current.

A strength of the camera work is the variety of shots we got within a limited time that were given to film in. We filmed a mostly basic shots therefore we can have a clear lip sync. In doing so having a variation of shots are important to prevent the music video of being unprofessional and lacks content.

weakness of the camera work is that most of the shot we took had extra people in the background and we was not able to use them shots because there was a lot of interruption. Also because we decided to use two actresses the lip sync was hard to match with both of them because they said the words at different paces for most of the shots.
